Description

Scent leaf is widely used across Nigeria and other African regions in herbal steam baths and skin washes. Traditionally valued for its cleansing aroma and skin-soothing properties, it has long been incorporated into home remedies for managing minor skin irritations.
The powder helps soothe irritated skin, reduce breakouts, and refresh the complexion. Its essential oils, including eugenol and thymol, provide natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that combat odor-causing and acne-associated microorganisms.
It is suitable for herbal cleansers, acne masks, toning masks, and cleansing bars at 1–5% in masks and 0.5–3% in wash-off formulations. Recommended for acne-prone and sensitive skin.
Analytical Evaluation
The product appears as a fine green powder with characteristic herbal odor and 80–100 mesh particle size. Moisture content does not exceed 10%. Total ash is below 12%, and acid insoluble ash below 2%. Lead and cadmium are within permissible limits (≤10 ppm and ≤0.3 ppm respectively). Microbiological testing confirms compliance, with total plate count and yeast/mold below 10³ cfu/g and absence of Escherichia coli and Salmonella.
