Description
Commonly known as the “sausage tree,” Kigelia africana holds deep roots in African ethnobotany. Across West and Southern Africa, fruit preparations were traditionally used in topical applications intended to tone and firm the skin. It was often included in herbal body treatments to maintain elasticity and vitality.
Kigelia powder promotes firmer-looking and more elastic skin, improves texture, and enhances the appearance of skin that appears tired or sagging. Its activity is linked to flavonoids, iridoids, and antioxidant compounds that help protect skin structures from oxidative stress and support collagen integrity.
Recommended usage is 2–8% in emulsions and 1–5% in masks. It blends well with shea butter, cocoa butter, and plant oils and is ideal for mature or aging skin types.
